Designation: Admissions Counsellor
Work Station: VIT, Vellore Campus

Job Summary:
Act as gateway between Institute and prospective students. Provides career counseling and outreach to students, explore occupational choices and help the students be placed in suitable courses. Be the face of the Institute to the fraternity regarding admissions. Should design/conduct higher education awareness programs at various Schools and education fairs and should follow up and ensure with the prospective parents/students. Should update self constantly with the latest changes/regulations in the higher education sector, policies/courses/facilities of the Institute and ensure that students are placed in courses matching with their ambitions, expectations and skills.

Key Responsibilities:
Conduct regular outreach efforts including workshops and presentations to classes, student clubs, School Teachers/ Principals.
Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to help students make an informed career decision.
Capable of using and interpreting latest tools in psychometry.
Assist and guide students/alumni through occupational exploration and the career decision-making process
Determine appropriate assessments and interventions required to assist students/alumni. Analyze and interpret career assessment results and incorporate in career counseling/job search coaching sessions.
Develop and conduct career and job search workshops
Assist with and/or coordinate logistical and administrative details for career fairs, graduate fairs, on - campus interview schedules, job listing service and special career events.
Provide representation in various university committees and university-wide events to enhance awareness and visibility of the Career Development Center
Provide consultation and organization assistance to departments in their development of major specific career related events
Provide career assessment and interpretation to undecided students through services offered by the Peer Career Program (training is provided)

Degree in Management or Humanities (Psychology or related).
Minimum 5 years of experience in similar role

Excellent communication skills in English (to speak, read and write) and also a few other languages like Hindi, Tamil, Telugu etc, - in direct as well as telephonic/ email conversations.
Should possess good presentation skills
Must be an expert in understanding and resolving queries from various stakeholders parents, students, Institutions, Corporates etc.
Should have excellent inter-personal and convincing skills
Should possess high levels of tolerance and patience
Should be multi-tasking as well as being a quick learner and fast adapter
Should possess a thorough understanding of latest trends in higher education and be update with the latest developments in the sector
